Since I last posted we have been pretty busy around here. Wednesday Colby had school pictures. I thought it was so cute that even his little preschool had pictures for the kids. Some thought it was silly but since Colby has not had pictures taken since April it was a good time to get his picture taken anyways plus we had to "document" his first year of school right?!? The morning started out with a little treat. I stopped and got Colby some donut holes since we didn't have to be at school so early. I also thought it would be nice to bring the teachers some donuts.
When we arrived the 3 year old class was getting their pictures made so we had to wait. I took Colby down to his room while we waited. I got to chat with his teacher which was nice to get to know her more and he played. The M, W, F class is a lot smaller in fact they combine the 1s and 2s I think on those days because they are so small.
I think Colby's teacher really likes him because while we were waiting it came up in conversation how much Colby likes Elmo so she went and found him an Elmo toy. She also made their pumpkin patch field trip for Tuesday because I told her we would be out Thursday. I am so glad he's well liked and is doing so good in school. Makes for a proud mommy. I prayed all summer that he would have a good connection with the teacher and that I would as well. I know from the teacher perspective how important it is to have good parents on your side. I really feel like this school year so far is a blessing. Colby is doing so well and loves to go! He has learned so much like counting, ABC's, and is talking so much more.
Once it was finally time for pictures I wondered how Colby would do. He hasn't had "studio" pictures made since he was 6 months old. All his pictures since have been outside in a park where he could just do his thing and be photographed. I knew this would be no easy task. Ofcourse I was right he pitched a fit and didn't want to stand/sit for the camera. I finally bribed him with my car keys. It came out cute enough I think.
Thursday Colby had school so I did my weekly grocery shopping. I am trying to do it now on Thursdays so I don't have to take Colby with me when I go. He always behaved well and always seemed to enjoy it but its still easier alone...I can take my time and not have to worry about him putting things in his mouth or pulling things off the shelf or tossing things out the basket. Its relaxing to grocery shop alone I think! Last night we went over to my parent's house because my Aunt Ree is in town. She and my mom are heading up to Starkville today to spend a few days. They are going there to see Tony (Aunt Ree's son) and also just to visit where they grew up. Colby did well for the most part considering he didn't have much of a nap and we were out later then his usual bathtime/bedtime. He only had a couple meltdowns but ended up eating a good dinner and being pretty social with everyone.
Today (Friday) was one of those days we didn't have to be anywhere. We were able to take our time getting ready which was nice. We went out to the church b/c they have put some new flooring down in the nursery area so I was told my Sunday School room hadn't been put back together. Well my parents went in there Wednesday night and pretty much did all the work. So when we got there I let Colby play on one of the playgrounds. He had a blast...it was such a pretty day. When we got inside my friend Kristie and her little boy Cade were there. I was happy to see them so Colby and Cade could play. They always play really well together. I ended up keeping both of the boys for about an hour in the nursery b/c Kristie was trying to help decorate for a church shower tomorrow. They did really well together. They are 10 months apart so Colby is 2 and Cade is 1 but they still interact really well together. The rest of our day is low key just staying at home but excited that Austin is off tomorrow! He is rarely off on Saturdays except when we got out of town so its going to be fun and feel like a real weekend tomorrow!
Sleeping update: The last 2 days have been bad as far as Colby's sleeping. He didn't nap yesterday which for some reason on his school days he doesn't sleep anymore. At first he did but now he seems to excited to sleep...hoping that will change when the newness wears off! He also slept horribly last night. He took until sometime after 9:15 to fall asleep then he was awake from 4-6 on and off crying and we had to keep going in there. Today he didn't want to nap either I finally had to really threaten him to not get up. He slept maybe an hour and a half which is honestly not good enough but least it left me with some quiet time to nap myself!

Just a Quiet Week
This is one of those weeks where we aren't doing much other then our daily routine which is sometimes nice. I feel like the last few have been so busy its nice to know this week doesn't hold much for us! Next week will be busy so I am enjoying the quiet while it lasts!
Yesterday Colby and I had no where to be so we just had one of our park dates then went to Petsmart. Colby had fun at the park but there were no other kids there so after like 20 minutes he was bored and ready to go. He enjoyed the animals at Petsmart though. Other then that we stayed home all day and Austin didn't get home until 7 so it was a long, quiet day!
Today has been much the same except Colby had school from 9-12. What was nice about today was I got to come home all by myself! This is the first time this has happened since Colby has been in school. We have either had work going on, or Austin was off or something so it was nice to come home and enjoy those 3 quiet hours. I even picked up pancakes from McDonald's to celebrate. I would have made pancakes b/c Colby loves them too but I couldn't justify making a whole batter for just him and I plus school mornings I don't have as much time. So honestly it was nice to eat them in peace! I got some housework done and just quiet time while he was away. When I picked him up they said he was really good. He has school pictures tomorrow which I am so excited about! His first school pictures! He also has his first field trip next week as well! This is the fun stuff about him going to school! Ofcourse his field trip is just at the church in their pumpkin patch but still it should be fun! I get to go help out as well so that will be cool!
The rest of the day we don't have much planned we will probably play outside and just enjoy our time around the house!

Weekend Trip to Hattiesburg
We just got home from our weekend in Hattiesburg. It was a busy but very fun weekend. We went up because it was USM's homecoming. Austin and my dad go to all the games but this was the first and perhaps the only one Colby and I would make it to this year.
I left Friday with my parents and Colby. We hoped to get out around 12:30 and have plenty of time in Hattiesburg that afternoon to relax. It ended up taking us 2 hours though just to get out the city. It was very frustrating we spent over 4 hours in the car. Thankfully though Colby was a trooper and never fussed. He also stayed dry the entire time! He is doing so well with that! Anyway once we got there my parents had to do a quick grocery run for us. After they got back we went out to eat with Austin's parents. Austin was on his way up by that point he couldn't leave until after work that day. It was nice to visit with Austin's parents and mine. Colby was really good too! After dinner we decided to take Colby back to the apartment playground so he could burn off some energy! He had the best time! They have a really big slide that has turns to it...Colby must have gone down that thing 50 times! He just giggled and laughed...he's truly going to be a daredevil! We all had fun seeing him have a good time! I now know where we will be taking him when we go to the apartment haha. After he played we took a walk around. It was nice outside and fun to look at the Halloween decorations. Afterwards we bathed Colby and by that time Austin arrived. We got Colby tucked in bed and I was honestly a little worried that he wouldn't sleep...it had been awhile since the 3 of us have slept in the same room. Plus this was only the 2nd time he slept on his new little blow up toddler bed! But he did great! We didn't hear a peep out of him all night! WHEWW so glad!
The next morning we got up and ate a good breakfast then Austin, Colby, and I headed out the the USM homecoming parade. We weren't going to get to take him to the game so we wanted to atleast take him to the parade. He loved it! This was only his 2nd parade experience. He went to Mardi Gras this past year. He loved the parade though...the cars, trucks, police, and firetrucks were all up his alley! He was very good during the whole thing! After we rode around campus to see all the Homecoming decorations. We also stopped by Austin's parents so they could visit with us for a little bit. We wanted to get back to the apartment though and rest so we didn't stay long. We ate lunch then all ended up laying down for a nap and Colby slept almost 3 hours! I was so proud of him this trip how well he slept!
For the game it was Austin, me, his sister Wendi, and my dad. Colby stayed back at the apartment with my mom. Austin's parents and Shelbi and Maggie went over there to play too for some of the evening. From what I hear they all had fun and Colby did really well. They said he played with his cousins really well! Its fun seeing them grow up together. Shelbi is 6 , Maggie is 4, and Colby is 2. They are stairsteps! The game was fun except the fact USM lost but it was nice to relax and watch the game and visit with Austin and his sister. Again we all slept good that night...I was worried once again how Colby would do especially since he had been put down by my mom and we weren't there but he slept all night!
Today we got up pretty early to head home. We wanted to get in in time to relax and get some house chores done before the Saints game. Colby was pretty good. We played outside some and I think he was glad to get back to all his cars/trucks. We were all sad about the Saints loss though hopefully they will do better next week! Colby has been letting us know when he needs to potty and even going to the potty when he has to poop although I think that one is going to take some time to perfect. Tonight he went a few times and had a small case of diarhea...just hoping it was something he ate and not the beginning of getting sick! Last October he had his first ear infection so far we have just had small colds so I am praying it stays that way! I always get worried though after being out of town b/c that is usually when we come home sick!

Fall Zoo Day
Austin was off today so we thought we would take advantage of the pretty weather again and take Colby to the zoo! I am loving these fall outtings! We have been so blessed with the weather for a week and a half! I hope everyone is enjoying it because it won't be here forever! I just love fall and its been so nice to actually have "fall" down here in the south! We haven't been to the zoo since May and then it was really too hot to enjoy it! Colby is now learning so many animals and their sounds I knew he would love it!
I think this was one of our best trips yet with him! He was in such a wonderful mood the whole time! He never cried or got mad about anything! He just soaked up the wonderful outdoors! He loved the elephants! He also was really fascinated with the flamingos. I guess their bright coloring and the fact he could get so close! We let him play on the playground too for a little while to get some "climbing energy" out and he loved that! He also enjoyed climbing one of the oak trees that both Austin and I climbed as children. He also played with some other little boys and they ran around in circles making monkey noises! It was hilarious! I do believe though a month ago before he started school he would not have done that! He used to be so shy and wouldn't approach other kids. He did really well walking a lot this trip. He doesn't usually get to walk as much as he did today because of crowds. Today there was just the right amount of people there. It wasn't crowded at all! We rented a wagon for him too though to ride in when he got tired which was nice.
We ate lunch at the zoo and Colby did well there again too! I love that the zoo has healthy options! He seemed to really enjoy his lunch! He had also had a big breakfast too he ate cheese grits and sausage before we left! I guess this nice weather works up an appetite!
It was such a nice day! Once we got home we all settled down for naps! Colby is taking a nice long one! I figured he would after all the exercise he got today. I'm sure the rest of the afternoon we will spend a lot of it outside as well! We love when daddy is home!

Sunday and Monday
Ok so the weather here has been absolutely amazing! I don't remember an early October like this in quite awhile! Yesterday was really nice and cool. In the mornings it starts out in the high 50s and warms up to about low 70s right now.
Yesterday was church which as I always say is a very busy tiring day but usually fun. Well in Sunday School as usual we had Colby, Broc, and Cade our 3 muskateers. They all did really well and many times interacted and played with each other. I got tickled a few times just watching them play it was so cute! I also had extended care in the same room so once again we had the same 3 kiddos. We decided with the pretty weather we would take them outside. They had a blast! We stayed out almost the entire hour. Colby ran around and the other boys mostly swang. Colby even got in the big boy swing for awhile! After church we ate lunch at McAlister's then came home. I had high hopes Colby would take a nice long nap but he had other plans! He didn't nap at all. We enjoyed the nice weather outside though and Austin got home at a decent time so we had fun family night!
Today was one of our unplanned kinda days which I love! I love the days where Colby and I can just go on an adventure and have no schedules or times to be anywhere. Monday is always storytime at the library so that is what I had planned. I decided though to get Burger King for breakfast so I wouldn't have to mess up our kitchen. So we stopped and got that well it hit me its such a nice day we should go picnic in a park! So we did! We drove to Terrytown Playground and ate our breakfast and played! It was so fun! Colby chased me around the baseball fields and we just had a great time! I love the spunk and energy these cool days give us! When he started to get bored I realized we still had time to go to the library too so we drove there.
Today's theme was monkeys. The lady read the book "Caps for Sale". I love that book! Everytime she would say monkey Colby would make his monkey sound and scratch his tummy! So cute! He also liked "If you're happy and you know it". So that has been our day so far and he's already been sleeping for 2 hours which is wonderful! I always feel so much better and he does too after a nice long nap! I'm sure we will spend most of the late afternoon outside as well!

Pumpkin Party
Today our church had the annual Preschool Pumpkin Party. This was actually the 2nd year they have done this. Last year we didn't get to go though due to being out of town. I was glad we could go this year and knew Colby would enjoy it. The morning started out a little rough. My little guy decided he would wake up at 6 am and then cry from 6-7:30 because I made him stay in his room. Then on the way to church he spilled his entire cup of milk down the front of him.
I have to admit though the day quickly got better. It was hard at first to get in the mood and put all that behind me but when I got there and saw how cute everything looked and especially when all the kids started running around enjoying themselves I couldn't help but get in the mood. Colby actually went to every station it was adorable! I honestly can say I think he liked them all. He was also so well behaved he never pitched a fit about anything. He loved the coloring stations especially the markers. He also liked the design a pumpkin face with fruit/veggies. Ofcourse he sat there and ate grapes though. Everyone thought that was so cute though! He really got into icing the pumpkin cookies. He mainly enjoyed eating the icing...I don't know where he got that from haha. There was a bean bag toss and pumpkin bowling and he loved those and would clap and cheer when he did it right! He made a few little crafts and I can't wait to display them and put them in his keepsake box.
He also enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies and sprite for refreshment. I am so excited about this event I feel like it was quite a sucess. I think our church needed something like this and all the people behind it did a wonderful job.
The rest of our day has been quite nice. Colby ended up taking a nice 2 and a half hour nap after finally settling down after 1ish. Austin got home around 5:30 which I was soo thankful for after the past week! We were able to sit outside and play with Colby then we watched the USM game together! Its been a wonderful day even though the start wasn't what I wished for! Looking forward to a beautiful day tomorrow in God's House.

Losing Patience
This is just one of those weeks where I feel like my patience is gone. Sometimes I wish I were a more patient person...I feel like I am pretty patient except on these days like today where just about anything makes me lose it! Its been a long week because Austin has been working until 8 every night. Dealing with an active 2 year old from 6:30 am until 8 that night when he goes to bed is HARD work. Now don't get me wrong I am so grateful I have a child to deal with. And I am grateful he is so healthy to be that active. And I am grateful that my husband has a good job that provides for us so that I can stay home. But with all that said sometimes I just want to scream and pitch a fit! The first day Austin worked until 8 Colby was really good. We also went to the park that day. I notice a trend with Colby that if he gets his energy expelled in the morning by being outside or doing something active he is usually pretty good the rest of the day. And maybe I was more patient that day as well.
Yesterday Colby had school so I had somewhat of a break and he took a long nap which was awesome. He was very active after but least I had the first half of the day off! Now today has been awful! I hate that I didn't get him out more but it was just our day of the week where we had to stay home. We usually have 1 day a week like that and it usually falls on Saturday but this week it fell today. We did get out this morning to run to the church to drop off stuff for tomorrow's pumpkin party but that was it. So Colby got to play a little there but not as much has he obviously needed. His naptime was horrible he probably only slept an hour if that and he was just active and into everything today! Some days I feel like he just makes HUGE messes and today was one of those days. I just gave up by about 4 and said the heck with it...I gave up trying to clean up after him! I know I was probably mean today to him but its a hard line to be strict and not let him walk all over me and be mean...today I was mean. I feel guilty but I am mentally, physically, and emotionally wore out. Being a housewife is hard. Don't get me wrong I love it! But sometimes its soo tiring. I feel like I have to worry with the house all day plus keep my active 2 year old occupied and I get no downtime no adult interaction some days. And with Austin working late it just all mounts up. I miss Austin and I hate the evenings where we don't get to hang out as a family! I know this is just temporary but the days just seem so long sometimes! I am ready for a family vacation! We want to go to Gulf Shores before the end of the year just the 3 of us and I think it would do us good just to be away from everything else!
Sorry about my venting tonight but I feel better if I write my feelings down! I pray that tomorrow will be a better day and that God will forgive my ugly attitude at times today and grant me more patience tomorrow.
Tomorrow Colby does have a pumpkin party so that should be fun and hopefully will wear him out! Plus I love Saturdays with college football on tv!
