Mom's B-day, Park, and Christmas in the Oaks

Yesterday was quite a busy day for us! We started the day with breakfast with my family at a local restaurant. My parents decided this year for us all to eat breakfast together to celebrate my mom's b-day. It was a nice change of pace I think. They figured with everyone's schedules being so busy this time of year and us with a busy toddler breakfast might be better. I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Colby was mostly good except one bout that landed him in a highchair before our food came so that he would eat. Other then that he was fine. He also hammed it up when we were leaving by telling everyone in the restaurant "bye" before he left...he would stand at their table until they said bye back before he would move on to the next! I swear I don't know where he gets this stuff!
After breakfast Austin and I decided to take him to a local park. We knew he desperately needed to burn off some energy! We usually frequent the park often but the last few weeks we haven't been. His behavior was showing it too! So we took him and he had a blast! He was so excited to climb and slide and just be a little boy! I felt like everywhere we had been lately since Disney World we were saying "no, come here, sit down, no stand here, no get in the stroller" he hadn't had time to just run. We stayed for atleast an hour. I think Austin and I enjoyed being out in the fresh air as well.
Once we got home...Austin left out again to go shopping. Colby and I stayed home to rest. There was no way I was doing to drag a 2 year old out the week of Christmas to the mall! After our nap and when Austin got home he and Colby washed his truck! It was such a cute sight to see Colby helping his daddy wash the truck!
We then got cleaned up and headed out to Christmas in the Oaks. This has been our tradition the last 3 years to go the week of Christmas just the 3 of us. I hope we will always be able to do that as long as we live here. Its been neat to see the changes in Colby each time we go. The first time we went he was only 5 months old so he slept on and off the whole time...last year he was 1 and a little more aware of what was going on. He loved the carousel and just looking at the lights. This year was a whole new experience as he was totally into it and could really ride the rides and enjoy the lights.
We ate first when we got there then we headed straight for the rides because we knew it would be Colby's favorite. On our way to the rides we got to meet City Park's mascot Parker the Racoon. Colby loved this! I think he thought he was back in Disney. After that meet and greet we went to ride the carousel. He was totally into that this year and wanted to sit on the horse and do it himself he didn't even want me to stand by him to hold onto him! After we let him ride one of the kiddie rides it was little cars that went around. After the cars we went into Storyland...Colby was really excited about this and he seemed to remember where everything was since we have been a few times during the fall. We couldn't let him just run though because it was so crowded with people and bigger kids. He got to climb in the firetruck and slide down Jack and Jill's hill and see a few other things then we decided it was wayy too crowded and went to the Gardens part of the park to see more lights. We took him first to the train garden. He has liked this since he was a baby but this year he knew more what trains were about and he was really into it. We stayed in that part for atleast 30 minutes. Afterwards we walked and saw a few more things then it was time to go. By that point it was already 8 and Colby usually goes to bed at 8. We knew if we stayed any longer we would have a pumpkin plus it was getting crazy, crowded by that point.

What a fun day though...lots of memories made!
